William Hill Manor Celebrates National Doctor’s Day
March 30, 2011 Easton, Maryland

William Hill Manor celebrated National Doctor’s Day, by presenting Dr. Paul Reinbold, William Hill Manor Medical Director and Dr. Allan Anderson, Samuel and Alexia Bratton Memory Clinic Medical Director and William Hill Manor Assistant Medical Director gift baskets to recognize and thank them for their service. Local physicians were also presented with gift baskets from the William Hill Manor Leadership Team so show appreciation of the care they provide to the residents of William Hill Manor.
National Doctor's Day was created to show appreciation to your doctors. Doctors perform vital diagnosis, treatment and care for yourself and your family. When you are well, your doctor keeps you well. When you are sick, there is no other person more important to you than your doctor.
Doctors' Day observances date back to March 30, 1933. The idea of setting aside a day to honor physicians was conceived by Eudora Brown Almond of Winder, Georgia, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond. The day marks the anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery by Dr. Crawford W. Long in Barrow County, Georgia in 1842. The first National Doctor's Day was celebrated in 1991. The red carnation is commonly used as the symbolic flower for National Doctor’s Day.
On March 30, 1958, the United States House of Representatives adopted a resolution commemorating Doctors' Day. In 1990, the congress and the senate approved legislation establishing National Doctors Day. The resolution designating March 30 as National Doctors' Day was signed by President George Bush on October 30, 1990
